About this piece:

Here the horse represents hope. The horse appears white and nearly translucent. I wanted the body to feel both present and ghost like—as if hope is a fragile state of mind, not truly there unless you believe in it.

The abstract background of black, gray, and orange marks holds the tension of the piece. The black marks represent chronic pain—forces that mark memory, sadness and resist movement. The contrast between the lightness of the horse and the heaviness of the marks reflects the imbalance of carrying pain in a body that still wants to move, live, and be free.

For me, this work is about continuing despite resistance. It speaks to the effort it takes to move toward healing when pain is ever-present, and to the quiet courage of choosing forward motion even when the hope feels almost transparent.
