About this piece:

Bound presents a horse joyfully tethered to a pole, stretching and twisting with a gentle, almost playful expression. The painting is energized by quick brushstrokes and darker, more frantic marks in the shadows. This contrast mirrors the emotional complexity of the piece—lightness coexisting with underlying tension.

The wide-angle perspective I’ve used exaggerates the horse’s form, drawing focus to the mouth as a site of truth—where breath, instinct, and honesty reside. It becomes a quiet symbol of what cannot be silenced, even when the body is held back.

The horse’s gaze invites the viewer to consider whether freedom is defined by circumstance or by the ability to remain expressive, present, and joyful even within limitation.
